Ukeevea Ethics & Welfare
Ethics & Welfare
Our ethics are grounded in responsibility, transparency, and an unwavering
commitment to animal welfare. Every decision we make is guided by what
is in the best interests of the dogs — not convenience, demand, trends, or
recognition.
Ukeevea Siberian Huskies operates in alignment with the Dogs Queensland
Code of Ethics, Dogs Australia (ANKC) principles, and the Animal Care and
Protection Act 2001 (Qld), which places a legal and moral duty of care on
anyone responsible for animals.
Welfare First
Welfare is not a checklist — it is the foundation of ethical breeding. We are
committed to ensuring that every dog in our care is safe, healthy, enriched,
emotionally secure, and able to express natural behaviours in a home environment.
Animal welfare considerations always take precedence over financial, competitive, or convenience-based decisions.
Ethical & Purposeful Breeding
We breed with intention and purpose. Litters are planned only when they serve a clear and responsible goal within our breeding program, including retaining puppies to progress our own lines, and only when we can confidently meet the welfare needs of the breeding dogs, puppies, and future owners.
We do not breed casually, impulsively, or without consideration of long-term outcomes. Every breeding decision carries lifelong responsibility.
Health, Function & Temperament
Ethical breeding requires thoughtful selection. Our breeding decisions prioritise:
-
sound, functional structure
-
stable, predictable temperaments suited to family living
-
informed management of breed-relevant health considerations
Health screening and assessment may be undertaken where appropriate as part of a broader, holistic approach to responsible breeding.
Dogs who do not meet appropriate welfare, temperament, or suitability standards are not bred from.
Raised in a Family Environment
All dogs and puppies are raised in a family home environment, not isolated kennel systems. Puppies are exposed to normal household life, age-appropriate enrichment, and positive human interaction — including children — to support confidence, resilience, and emotional development.
Thoughtful Placement & Informed Ownership
Placement decisions are welfare decisions. We prioritise:
-
honest, accurate information about the breed
-
realistic expectations of ownership
-
matching puppies to homes based on temperament, lifestyle, and capability
We reserve the right to refuse or delay placement where we believe a dog’s welfare may be compromised.
Lifelong Responsibility
Every dog bred by Ukeevea remains our responsibility for life. We provide ongoing support to our puppy families and will always assist should circumstances change.
Dogs bred by Ukeevea are never considered disposable.
Transparency & Accountability
We believe ethical breeding is defined by actions, accountability, and the quality of life afforded to every dog. We welcome questions, encourage informed discussion, and remain committed to continuous learning and improvement in line with evolving animal welfare standards.
Our word is our bond.
